Drinking Too Much Before Bed

Liquids at night mean needing to use the bathroom when you are trying to sleep. If you consume alcohol right before bedtime, your sleep might also be lighter and broken up into chunks. While alcohol will make you feel sleepy, it will also lower the overall quality of your sleep. Three hours before you plan on sleeping, stop drinking liquids.
The Room is Too Warm
Most people sleep in a cocoon-like environment with multiple sheets, blankets, and pillows. However, a warm room does not mix well with a cocoon! If your room is too warm, you will wake up multiple times during the night and have a more disrupted and less refreshing sleep. For most adults, their ideal sleeping temperature is between 55-74 degrees, with the upper 60s being ideal. Controlling the temperature of the area that you sleep in can make a radical difference when you lie down every night.
Your Workout Ran Late
If you exercise within 3 hours of when you plan to sleep, your body might be too awake to hit the sack. Exercise actually helps to wake up your brain and body, so try to move your gym session to the morning if possible. If you still need to workout at night, move the workout to a time period at least 4-6 hours before bedtime.
