2. Can I Try It?
We know, we know: it may seem awkward to lay down on a store mattress in front of your salesperson. You have to do it though! Don’t be afraid to ask because there’s really no substitute for trying the bed out yourself. You shouldn’t just lay on it on your back though, try stretching out, trying your favorite positions, and rolling around a bit. If you share your bed with a partner, both of you should try it out at the same time. This will guarantee that you really know what bed you’re getting and you won’t be disappointed with the quality of the mattress later.
3. What About Returns or Trial Periods?
With that said, there’s no telling how much you’ll enjoy a mattress until you get a full night spent on it. Often, bedding dealers will give a “comfort trial” period. This typically lasts 30 days where you can return the mattress if it’s a letdown, but most stores do charge a restocking fee for this convenience. Trial periods are still crucial, particularly if you purchase a mattress online.
